Sketch design no.3 (2)

While not radically different from the previous draft, this is the final image.

Tried adding a few shadows and creating a little more contrast / definition but it still looks a bit 'busy' to my eye.  Still, it certainly fulfills the brief by containing people and a fair dollop of texture ...

Sketch design no.3

Having seen several other people's sequential sketch photomontages I thought I'd be brave and follow their example.  Unfortunately, I'm not too keen on my efforts so far.

In my mind I've been thinking 'minimal' and 'clean' but somehow managed to produce the opposite!  Is there help for me?!

Wood works

Alastair Heseltine's wood sculptures are diverse and easily recognisable in form:

Log Stack
(practical boundary & storage area!)

Torso
(the wicker woman)

Calverley Grounds on a wet and windy day ...

The day of my first visit to Calverley Grounds was well chosen (cue manic laughter), being arguably one of the wettest for ages.  On the plus side, at least it gave me an insight into the rainwater runoff on site.  Just a shame I didn't take a towel!  The following photographs were taken during the few, brief, minutes when the rain eased off.

Seasonal(?) pond near main entrance

Darker stripe of grass possibly delineating an underground water course (and decorative rainspot)

Large, shallow pool on the former bandstand site

Did this area flood when the bandstand was in situ?

Puddle by storage(?) facility

Water pools under benches, coming from drainage pipes set into the slope behind

Quick sketches

Well, apart from learning that I need to grow at least 300mm (or 12" if you prefer imperial) in height, Monday's quick sketch session highlighted my need to start sketching on a daily basis.  Which I will do ... honest.

Thankfully these are a bit too small to appreciate the full horror!
